Christine Amstutz:
About the Artist

I had the privilege to grow up in a beautiful village in Switzerland, surrounded by high mountains, eternal snow and glaciers, alpine trees, bushes and flowers which offered us to live very close to nature: pure air, bright sunlight, the often drastic season changes, the warmth and the cold, the wind, the storms, rain and snow.

Although the different domains in Arts were very present throughout my childhood and adolescence, I took up arts myself very late in life. It seems as though this hidden part of me awaited patiently the right moment to be freed.
Starting off with many classes in perspective drawing and different drawing techniques, I discovered my love for dry pastels and charcoal which allowed me to touch, to feel, to shape with my hands. But very soon my wish to work with silk made its appearance.
A first beginner's class in silk painting in Montreal, Canada, where I am still living (since 1985), confirmed my love for this exclusive and luxurious material. My hunger for more got to a point where I started studying tirelessly everything about silk painting and all the different techniques. Susan Moyer's books pushed me into studying instructions, trying out the countless techniques, experimenting with new ideas and materials, simply letting go and DO. Thank you, Susan, for your wonderful inspiration!
Studying never ends ... experimenting doesn't either. Dealing with surprises during painting calls for creativity to kick in and get into action ... no time to waste. What a wonderful, creative, immensely big joy ... one big passion!

I find my inspiration mostly in nature, which I capture on
photographs and through my studies in interior decoration which touches the more decorative aspect of painting. You can therefore find anything from simple and fun play with colors, shapes and forms to figurative paintings of flowers, trees, etc. ... and even elegant evening designs with gold lines ...
What more can there be said. I hope you will enjoy my creations as much as I do creating them. Your click on
Gallery will guide you into my creative world. Enjoy! And I always love to read Feedbacks and Comments and: thank you for becoming one of my customers.
